Bimundors Oak (Quercus x bimundorum)
Bimundors oaks are a hybrid of a White oak (Quercus alba) and an English oak (Quercus robur). Unlike White or English oaks that are slow growing and take 20 years or more to begin producing acorns, these hybrids grow quickly and can begin producing acorns at much younger ages. Bimundors oaks are heavy producers and like White oaks, the acorns are highly sought after by deer, turkey, and other wildlife. The acorns are 3/4 to 1 inch in length and drop from October through November.
Bimundors oaks prefer acidic, deep soils that are moist and well drained but will grow in clay or sandy soils and can tolerate drought and even occasionally wet locations. For best results and quickest acorn production, these trees should be planted in areas with good soil that receive full sunlight.
