Cherrybark Oak (Quercus pagoda)

Cherrybark oak trees are moderately fast growing red oaks that begin to produce acorns at about 25 years of age. Cherrybark oaks produce good acorn crops every year with heavy crops about every 4 years. The acorns are about 1/2 inch in size, drop from late October through November, and are consumed by deer, squirrel, turkey, and other wildlife species. Fall leaf colors vary from reddish-brown to bronze.

Cherrybark oaks prefer moist, loamy, well drained soils that are acidic but can grow in wide variety of soil including clay and poor soils. Cherrybark oaks will even tolerate occasional flooding during the winter and spring. For best results, these trees should be planted in areas with good soil that receive full sunlight.
