Gobbler Sawtooth Oak (Quercus acutissima)

Gobbler Sawtooth oaks are a variety of Sawtooths that produce large crops of smaller acorns. The acorns are usually 1/2 inch long or less and like other sawtooth acorns are highly desirable as a food source for wildlife.

Gobbler Sawtooth oaks begin producing acorns when the trees are five to seven years old and produce heavy acorn crops every year, providing a reliable food source that draws in wildlife year after year. The acorns drop between late September and the end of October, well before most other oaks. Deer, turkey, and other animals crave the acorns and quickly devour them after they fall to the ground.

Gobbler Sawtooth oak trees will grow in a wide variety of soil types. However, for best results Gobbler Sawtooths should be planted in areas with fertile, well-drained soils that receive full sunlight.

* Gobbler Sawtooth oaks will not survive in sights that are flooded for more than 24 hours during the summer or in areas that are densely shaded.

Sawtooth oaks cannot be sold or shipped to Wisconsin and are considered non-hardy in most parts of Minnesota.
